my sound design
The sound is always an essential part of film production. Without the sound, the image will lose its soul. This is not my first time editing sound to a film, but it is my first time do a sound design to a silent film. First of all, I watched the film for two to three times, and then I try to find the characteristic of the actor and add my understanding to the film. for example, although it is black and white I can tell it is a short clip with a sense of relaxing. It does not convey any meaning but simply a series of movement. So I added the sound of him scratching his hair, putting his hand in the pocket (which is the sound of friction between his hand and the cloth) It was fun to do it, and I enjoyed a lot during editing.
You can tell these two people are by the street, so I added a little background noise representing the feel of the marketplace. and the man is wearing leather shoes so his walking sound is different the one who appears in the beginning.
Here I added the sound of a horse. Since the scene is just a scene with this white horse, it is an intro of the next, so I use the horse sound to give it away.
In the end, I used a cartoon sound effect when he throws his clothes to give it more of a comic style
as I mentioned above, this man wearing a different kind of shoes and he's walking on a different texture of road as well so it should not be the same sound as the first man
